About
The Sparks Synchronized Skating program began in Lafayette, Colorado in 2010. Synchronized skating is a team sport in which 8-20 skaters perform a program together, and is characterized by teamwork, speed, intricate formations and challenging step sequences. Elements in synchronized skating include blocks, circles, wheels, lines, intersections, spins and pairs moves, and incorporate the disciplines of freestyle, ice dance and pairs. The skills of the individuals contribute to the level of the team performance. The overall goal of the Sparks program is to give skaters a team experience in a traditionally individual sport, and provide rewarding learning experiences for all involved.
